A name from the Black Sea, a discipline from banking

Aydinfo was founded to illuminate organisations' digital processes with simple, secure and sustainable software.

Timeline

  1. First sighting off Gerze; the town names him "Aydın".
  2. Returned to Ukraine after an international dispute.
  3. Escapes again — a 305 km journey.
  4. Returns on the first day of the Gerze festival; last seen that night.

Aydın's story

The white whale of Gerze

On 25 January 1992, fisherman Mehmet İzmirli of Gerze saw a huge white creature without a dorsal fin in the sea. At first nobody believed him.

Fishermen Rıza Eyice, Kemal Özdemir and Yılmaz Akçaoğlu befriended the whale with small fish and led him into Gerze harbour. The 4.5-metre white beluga was so at ease with people that he soon became the darling first of Gerze, then of Türkiye, then of the world press. The townspeople named him Aydın.

Aydın had escaped from a training facility in Sevastopol; after an international dispute he was taken back on 6 April 1992. But the story did not end there: on 14 April 1993 he escaped again and on 18 July 1993 — the first day of the Gerze festival — he returned. That night he swam out to open sea and was never seen again.

For our founders Tuncay Aydın and Kübra Aydın this is a story heard in childhood and never forgotten. Sharing their surname, this visitor stands for freedom, loyalty and trust in people. The meeting of "Aydın" — which also means "enlightened" in Turkish — and "info" was born here: software that illuminates information.

Founders

Two disciplines, one product

Aydinfo combines engineering discipline from banking software with field and procurement experience from the energy sector. The Supply Management idea came from the field; the software was shaped by that need.

Tuncay Aydın

Founder · Software Engineer

Software engineer. Building production systems in different areas of banking for more than ten years. Based in Istanbul.

He started his career on ATM and XTM systems at Architecht, Kuveyt Türk's technology company; he then built software on the BOA banking platform and in the trade finance, lending and regulatory reporting teams of the Fimple banking platform, all low-tolerance modules. The discipline distilled from that experience — security, testing, traceability, simple architecture — goes into client projects and his own products.

Today he builds end-to-end products with .NET, React and Flutter, using AI-assisted tools as a natural part of the development process from analysis to testing.

Kübra Aydın

Co-founder · Electrical & Electronics Engineer

Technical procurement manager in the energy sector. Working on solar energy projects for more than 6 years.

The Supply Management idea came from her desk: living every day with material requests from sites, approvals and supplier quotes getting lost between e-mails and spreadsheets, she described the process end to end as a product. Features such as organisation-defined approval levels, quote comparison and supplier evaluation come straight from that experience.

At Aydinfo she owns the product roadmap, the prioritisation of field needs and the procurement perspective; every new feature is tested in her field first.
